Project 2: Double Exposure and Photo Manipulation

Project 2A: Double Exposure

For this assignment, we are to create a double exposure Photoshop work using a photo of our self-portrait. Mr. Martin brought us to a studio to take some nice photos with appropriate lightings. Eventually, I've decided to use this photo of mine.

After that, I adjusted the curves and created a clipping mask. I've decided to add a picture of fishes around my head to create a better complementary element for my later pictures for double exposure.

I chose a picture of fishes roaming in the sea as the focus for my double exposure work. Blended the picture in with soft light.

After a feedback session with Mr. Martin, he said that this would be a good digital imaging work, but it needs more 'blending' in order to be more double exposed. While I was working with this piece, I had a last minute change for the background. I chose a scene that is under the sea, giving the work a more lively vibe. I also blended my shirt in more with the sea scenery.

I messaged Mr. Martin one last time and he suggested the fishes on top of my head to be blended in more with my face. I did the necessary changes and below will be my final Double Exposure Self-portrait work.

Project 2B: Photo Manipulation

This project would require students to combine two objects and make it into one. It ranges from anything from a corn + banana, or even an umbrella + fish hook.

Research/ Inspiration

I went onto Pinterest to get some ideas and inspiration. Below will be a series of photo manipulations done by other people on the internet.

Sketch

I got inspired and decided to sketch out a few options that I can do. Mr. Martin suggest me to work on either the pill tablets + pizza, or the apple + top of a soda can.

Progress

In the end, I've decided to do a photo manipulation work with an apple, and also the top of a soda can. I took a picture of an apple as well as a soda can. Below will be my progress combining the 2.

I showed Mr. Martin my work in class and he said it's not bad, and the only thing left to do is to create the background. He also suggested the background to match the lightings and shadows of the apple + can lid.
